Our school has achieved an Research Ireland Curious Minds Award in 2025.
We submitted a Log of Evidence which satisfied the judging committee that the children's work had met all the criteria for the Gold Award.
Our log provided evidence of children's engagement with STEM in the following areas:
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Maths
- STEM Showcase
Here is some feedback on our Log of Evidence:
Congratulations to Ballinakill NS on your wonderful engagement in STEM activities this year as evidenced from your log. Great to see the learners engagement with guest speakers to learn about local biodiversity including hedgerow studies, worm studies, sowing and growing of vegetables as well as use of practical maths to determine the amount of soil required for the new polytunnel. The log clearly demonstrated evidence of learner engagement in ICT and Technology across the school including construction and use of solar panel kits, coding of robots and 20 questions for 20 years of Curious Minds Campaign. Great team work between junior and senior learners in carrying out of Maths trails. Keep up the fantastic work and enjoy your well deserved award.
Comhghairdeas daoibh go leir.
