On the morning of September 23rd, trailblazing children from 3rd to 6th Class, together with TY students from Heywood College, became some of the first groups to complete the newly opened orienteering course in the grounds of Heywood OPW gardens.
Pat Healy, an ex army officer and orienteering veteran gave all the groups a short explanation on map reading and orientation and off they went.
Luckily the sun shone and the children had a fantastic time navigating their way and finding the controls on the course.
With all cards punched, tired legs carried the group back to school in time for lunch.
A sincere thanks to all parties involved in organising this very enjoyable event.
