We are delighted that the children from 3rd to 6th Class are taking part in a biodiversity art project with local artist Kate Knowles . Kate lives and works locally in County Laois and brings a deep connection with landscape, nature and creative expression to everything she does, making her a great fit for our school community.
Kate previously worked with our 5th and 6th class on a very successful project on native birds, and we are excited that she is now working with a wider group of pupils. Her approach encourages curiosity, observation and creativity, helping the children explore native plants and wildlife through art in a hands-on, meaningful way.
This project is made possible through our involvement in the Creative Schools scheme, a national initiative that places arts and creativity at the heart of children’s learning and supports schools to develop creative, child-centred experiences.
Working with Kate gives our pupils the chance to learn from a professional artist, build confidence, develop new skills and deepen their connection with the natural world around them. It’s a wonderful opportunity for both the children and the whole school community.
We hope you will follow along as we post pictures here of the children's progress with this project.
