Biodiversity in the School Garden

A wide variety of flying creatures have been spotted dining in our school garden over the summer months.

The flowers of the dahlias and pumpkins planted by the children in 3rd and 4th Class have proven to be a popular food source from the local flying insects.

The bumble bees seem to be especially attracted to the open mouthed yellow flowers on our pumpkins. 4 bumble bees were spotted feeding together from a single flower.

Red Admiral butterflies have been another frequent flier in and out of our garden.

Little White butterflies have also been spotted here.
